Leighton Buzzard, Grand Union Canal – Thursday 2 May 2013
Another 07:45
start with 9 locks (evenly spaced) and 5 miles scheduled. The sun has been out all day with almost no
clouds – another shirt off day! There has
been some activity with boats going the opposite way. The holiday season must be starting – a ‘Black
Prince’ holiday boat was out. Having moored
up I then noticed that the boat next to me had a Moorhen busy building a nest
in one of the tyres used as a fender, the owner knew this and has already
reported to C&RT as he cannot move his boat while the bird is there.
I have
moored here for the weekend as tomorrow I have a trip into ‘the smoke’ to
attend the annual meeting of the London Transport Old Comrades Association.
