Higher Poynton

Higher Poynton, Macclesfield Canal – Monday 23 September 2013
Starshine came out of the paint-shed on Friday and I was moved in.  Preparation and masking was soon done and the imitation gold coachline and Mercedes red handrail were painted and left to part cure.  On Saturday the masking was removed and I went down into Poynton for some shopping, Andy Russell came in and repaired the letter A that had been chipped.  Saturday and Sunday the sun came out so I sat in the Garden reading as it is dark inside a boat inside the paint-shed.  Chris and Liz arrived on ‘Shimshams’ and I went over for a chat in the evening.

Today another shell arrived at High Lane so Chris, Liz and I went over to tow her back to the yard, it was fascinating filling in the one bit that I missed with ‘Ice Breaker’.  I saw the craning in but not the tow due to frozen canals and when it was possible to move my shell there wasn’t enough warning for me to travel up from Battersea.  There was a boat floating free as a hazard and the handrail of the bridge over the entrance to the yard has finally given way due to dry-rot, a quick call to C&RT and the have put a temporary repair in place.

Peter has done the work on the side of the boat prior to the initial painting which he will look at tomorrow so progress.
