Coventry

Tuesday 10 June 2014 – North of Coventry, Oxford Canal
I have been travelling along the Oxford Canal which has sloping sides for most of its length, making it impossible to get close to the bank for mooring.  On leaving Braunston I moved to the top of the Hilmorton Locks and remained there until Thursday 5th when I moved on to Rugby planning to stay for the weekend as I had another trip back into London.  This one was the AGM of the Friends of St Columba’s (my home base Church).  This takes place on the Sunday nearest the 9th June (the Saint’s day).  I took the opportunity to stay in the Victory Services Club as the traffic in and around the capital can best be described as erratic at the weekend.  There were three different ‘events’ going on (I don’t have details) that meant that all of the centre (Hyde Park to the Olympic Village) had bus route closures or diversions at different times, ah the joys of London life!  Today I have continued onward and I am now moored about half a mile from the junction of the Oxford with the Coventry Canals with the hum of the M6 traffic in the background (I have managed to locate a stretch of piling).
There has been rain over the last week but mostly the weather has been sunny – hope it keeps up.
