Handsacre

Tuesday 17 June 2014 – Handsacre, Trent and Mersey Canal
I left Whittington just before 08:00 in glorious sunshine.  It seemed a slow run as there were moored boats for almost the whole run to Streethay.  The relatively new marina at King’s Orchard is beginning to look less like ‘just out of the box’ and has a fair number of boats already.  There was a steady stream of boats heading the opposite way and when I approached Fradley Junction I met up with Braidbar 99 ‘Just Siviting’ and stopped for a cuppa.  Fradley Junction was it’s usual busy self with a queue of boats waiting to go up the locks which meant that at each one the lock was set whichever way you were travelling.  Once past Wood End Lock I went on for a bit and have moored at Handsacre on some heavy duty iron work just after Bridge 58.
I then spent time entering Graham’s itinery into the computer ready for when we meet after Harecastle.  The weather has been cloudier than of late but is still warm and pleasant.
