2014 – Hawkesbury Junction, Upper Oxford Canal
Another 08:00 start in glorious sunshine, complete with a ‘Toy Story’
wallpaper blue sky with fluffy clouds!
But just after 09:00 there were grey clouds and it had turned cold –
this only lasted just long enough to put on a jacket then the sun returned and
has remained for the day. Initially
there were no boats moving but as I approached the junction there was a build
up with 3 of us waiting to go through the stop lock (a rise of 1 foot) and
since then there has been a steady stream in both directions all
afternoon. I have moored here as it is
one of the few stretches with ‘Arnco’ piling and tomorrow I will do the run
down to Hilmorton.
