Fazeley Junction, Birmingham & Fazeley Canal – Friday 16 August
2013
First
thing this morning looked like a “stay in the boat” day due to really heavy
rain (memories of last year) but by ten it had stopped raining and I decided to
risk it. There was a Volunteer at the
top five of the Atherstone locks so I was through them by 11:00 and completed
the other six just after 13:00. Then a
steady run to the top of the Glascote pair of locks where (for the first time) there
was no queue!! Two boats were coming up
so that made it easy for me then a few more bends in the canal and I’ve
moored. Due to works the top lock is
closed from 17:00 to 22:00 as CRT staff are digging out the side pond. The sun came out this afternoon and it has
been lovely cruising. Where I’m moored are
the local blackberry bushes – people of all ages from toddlers to those of a
mature disposition going along all with plastic bags!!
I haven’t
been reporting Braidbar Boats that I’ve seen – only two so far ‘Kala’ and ‘Barque
a Banque’, I will report others as seen.
Oh, and
the eye is ok again.
