Handsacre, Trent & Mersey Canal – Monday 19 August 2013
Stayed
put for the weekend – peaceful location and sun both days. Jess arrived on Saturday afternoon and is
staying until Tuesday. I’ve had a dodger
fitted ( this is a guard that goes round the back of the boat to stop accidents
from people or dogs stepping into the canal) Jess howls like mad if she’s in
the boat while it’s moving, but with the dodger she can be out with me. We’ve been on lots of walks as there is a
local Nature Park just by the canal and Jess has been exploring.
Today I
started out about half eight as there is no rush for the next two days due to
having told Mark where I’ll be when he comes to pick up Jess. A quiet run on the B&F to its change to
the Coventry at Whittington which is marked by a stone on the tow-path. Then a few more miles and then Fradley
Junction where the Coventry joins the T&M. There has been a lot of activity on the canal
heading South. I’ve moored near the
Crown pub for the night. The weather has
been windy and overcast all day but no rain.
